The UK Space sector manufactures many of the satellites orbiting the Earth, and its companies are experts in software design and systems integration. Together, the 260 companies involved in the UK Space industry had a total Space-related turnover of over £7.5 billion in 2008/09, of which the downstream sector accounted for £6.6 billion. The plan is to grow this downstream sector by over 10% a year over the next 15 years.
But what will the next new commercially facing applications be, who are the future customers, and how will they access and exploit the new data streams that are available to them?
We have been working with the UK’s Satellite Applications Catapult companies to help them develop new and profitable opportunities aimed at Corporations, SME’s and the developer community, as well as Municipalities and Academia.
Our work has identified a portfolio of new products and services backed by appropriate brand and communication strategies that will position the UK’s satellite industry to compete globally in the downstream market sectors.
